As I should have my new '05 Black Cherry Road King sometime late next week it seemed like a good time to search for a web site on the BTs. My previous 4 H-Ds have all been Sportsters: '98 883, '00 883' '02 1200 std and my beloved '04 1200R with suspension mods. Unfortunately my new RK is going to "cost" me my 1200R, my '04 Honda ST1300 and some money. All this because I finally broke down and bought a new '03 Suzuki SV1000N just before Thanksgiving. A very enjoyable, fast V twin; certainly not as eye catching as my 1200R, but she does move.
Unfortunately for my wallet I tried out for @ 45 minutes a RK last summer and came away completely surprised by the big bike. I started thinking that this was a bike I could ride all over NA on and enjoy every mile with a gr8 big smile! My ST is far faster, better handling, brakes etc and very comfortable.....but she has the personality of....zzzzzzzzzzzz. At the time the RK cost to much as I definately wasn't willing to part with my 1200R. To me, out of 70 bikes over the years, none have been as much fun to ride...fast. She is very "happy" at sustained 90-95 on back roads. However, with the SV1K my perspective has changed a bit so now a new RK will be on the way.
I am starting to plan a RK ride out to the left coast to meet up with an e-mail buddy and explore his part of the USofA.
