I'll be selling my Wrangler to Carmax next week because it's not worth it anymore to keep putting money into it so and I'm pretty sure I want a HD as my next ride. I do have some questions though. I would be getting custom Sportster 1200R (custom wheels and exhaust). My question is how long of a wait would I expect between the time I take delivery and the time until it is shipped? I want to allow enough time to order it so it is here by spring. I also need to allow time for riding lessons and getting a new license. Also, what are sissy bars? I've probably seen them in pictures but don't know it. Lastly, what does the term rubberneck mean?
I'll try to help here. Sissy bar is/was the term for a passenger support bar as in passenger back rest. But they were pretty different way back when . Good example would be to watch the movie Easy Rider.
Rubberneck is the term used for being new to the HDForums.

Welcome to the forum,Marcus. Your question, "how long a wait"..most dealers have good numbers of sportsters in stock, however, if you have to order one, my guess is the wait will be very short. "Sissy bars"? just another name for passenger backrest. As for "rubbernecker" check out this forum link, will tell you all about it....click here
hi marcus,
welcome here and hope you enjoy the place. sounds like you've made the jump. if you had to order one, or wait to have one shipped via a dealer they usually take about a month (up to 2 max-usually). like mentioned before most dealers have them in stock, so it just depends what color, etc. you want. good luck with your purchase and send us some pics when you get it. stay safe...
Howdy and welcome from SC. My brother-n-law recently bought a 1200 Sporty, but he went with the Custom. He absolutely loves it. Hope you get what you want and it makes YOU happy. That's all that matters.
