From my experiance, people outgrow Sporties quickly. I have my lady on a Road Glide as her first.

Try them all and see what says, "Take me home."

Enjoy and welcome.

Welcome from Oklahoma! The Sportster is a blast to ride. After owning one for a year, I quickly grew out of it and the dealer tore me a new one when I traded it. Make sure you get what's best for the riding you intend on doing the first time. Good luck.

Have to mirror what knozzmoeking said. Too many people have "started" on Sporties only to lose a ton of cash when they trade them in a year or two later. Take your time ride/rent a few different models and make sure what you buy is what you are going to want to ride for years. Don't worry about weight, all bikes "weigh" the same once they are moving more than 5mph.

Enjoy the hunt and welcome from sunny San Diego.
