Default Overheating

I have a 2004 road king classic. Does the engine automatically shutoff before overheating? What is the first sign that the engine is getting close to overheating? What would be the maximum time to allow engine to idle in hot weather? Please respond. Thank you Rich.

Dont know about your year but the 07 heat management will shut the bike down when it gets too hot. 1st stage idle wont go below 2000rpm 2nd stage raw gas gets dumped into cylinder and bike wont idle 3rd stage bike shuts down. This was told to me by HD tech.I had been in a parade and made it to step 2.He said over a dozen bikes had been to dealer for same problem.Bike started running better next day(im sure new plugs would help)
