Having just returned from overseas I was itching to get a bike. My wife of 23 years preferred that I did not ride stating that my occupation was risky enough to add the risk of the possibilty our 9 year old losing her daddy due to some crazy driver running bikers off the road. I continued to look anyway. When it comes to automobiles it typically takes me a year to decide what vehicle I would be happy with and so the same with the bike. Finally my wife relented in her trepidated opinion after sitting next to a elderly HD rider on a return flight home from a business trip. He had told her that he had a triple by-pass and explained how he and his wife found a renewed sense of life riding together. I am not sure what that gentleman said to her but she returned from that flight and floored me when she said that she was not opposed with me getting a bike. My marraige and family has always come first but timing couldn't be better. By this time after talking with bikers and researching I had a vision of what kind of bike I wanted. It came in the form of a '06 HST. Thanks Harley Rider where ever you are.

welcome to the forum... glad you returned home safely.
congrats on the bike... let's see some photos when you get a chance.
My story is very similar. I retired from the Navy Nov 2002. Married 22 yrs this coming June and we have 3 children (21, 17, 13). Last year I decided I wanted a bike and I settled on Harley. It was apparent she wasn't fond of the idea. I printed photos of a few different bikes I was interested in and I was walking through the house with those photos one morning and she said "I don't know why you keep printing those, you're NOT getting a bike." Well I stopped looked at her and said "where do you get off telling me what I can have and what I can't?" and I continued on. (I wanted her to think I was upset but I really wasn't, I had already made up my mind that I was getting a bike.) Anyway, I came back a few minutes later and said "22 yrs we've been married and I've bent over backwards to try and give you everything you want." and I repeated the "where do you get off" line... and then left for work. A few hours later she called and said not only was she okay with me getting a bike but that she'd help me with a down payment I found a 2006 FLSTFI Fatboy with only 2362 miles on it and I've since put about 1400 more on it.
