IMO, there's the school of hard knocks, or good safety and riding training..
The school of HK's sometimes don't give you a second change.
So any time I could learn to be a better and safer rider I would recommend it.
I was 1 of 4 who taught Fork Truck safety training at work for yrs. All Drivers even with yrs of experience had to take it and some would say after all the yrs I've driven now your teaching me how to drive.
My answer was NO, not how to drive just seeing if you have any bad habits...
Believe me, 99.9% had bad habits some more than others. After taking the class 95% of them thanked us for making them a better and safer FT driver.
Same way if anyone with bad habits teaches a new rider, more than likely they will pass the bad habits to them. That why its best to learn from trained personal.
Howdy Beth from central Washington. Lots of info in all the sections. Tons of great people. Learn to use the site and search function to their fullest extent. (Then we won't think you're a dumb a$$ newb when you ask questions). You'll find no better place to belong. Ride safe and show them bug covered pearly whites! Geez
Welcome to the forum.
I had a hard time focusing on what was asked when I saw Southern Belle and 25. But I reread it and see now what you've asked.
I'd check with the local colleges as the ones around here have classes which supply the bikes for much less than the Harley dealer charges. I know someone who took one for $25 and just had to go take the written test and then had their endorsement.
Welcome from Cindy in Vancouver...
Absolutly take the course... but dont stop there.. continue to practice your skills.. I totally agree, they will save your life.. the best piece of advise (well, the one thing that has stuck in my head for ALL my years of riding) "ride like everyone out there is trying to kill you"
Kids have their tunes on soooo loud, they dont see bikes... seniors, well, nuff said...lol..
then their is the mum with the kids in the mini van trying to deal with "mom, tell him to stop touching me!!!!!" then there is the business guy on his cell phone... People driving do not see bikes...
take the course, practice... be alert, and most of all, Welcome to the amazing world of riding!!!!! there is nothing like it.. well, nothing I have ever found.
