Hey there .....

Hi HD-ers. Newby here, looking to buy my first Harley after years on ....on .....on, well - different bikes! Joined up to few HD forums to unashamedly pick the brains of the knowledgeable ones. Fell upon this place by pure chance, just as I was about to put a deposit down on an early 2007 Street Bob. Read about the probs a lot of folks are having with IPB issues and bent flywheel / oil pump shafts & put my money back in my pocket! This place seems to deal with the real ups and downs of Harley ownership - warts an' all - I like that. Too many rose coloured spectacles in the world as it is!

I don't know what U mean by IPB, the the flywheel are not bending, a very, very small few have spun the cranks. Don't know if its any more that the 88's.

If U abuse the motor it could and might happen (spin the crank), but of the riders I know and the wrenchs at 4 dealers I have talked to, not one has had a 96 that has spun.
The end shaft run out has been increased so not all can run gear cams, but with the new hyd. tennsioners U don't need them now anyway..

I am not sure bit don't think they changed anything with the crank on the 08-09's. Seem like I have read something on the 10's but not sure..

Another thing is on a 96 built motor that puts out near or over 100hp is asking for trouble if the crank is not redone and some are not doing that extra work.
