New guy from VT
My name is Jesse, I am part owner and a body piercer at Jade Lotus tattoo and piercing at 64 North St in Burlington Vt, I am married, no kids yet, 23, and like guns and motorcycles.
This is my first American bike, my motorcycle history is as follows
1972 Honda 350F-got it for free from my neighbor for helping her clean up the garage after her husband died
1978 Suzuki GS 750- $200 kept it alive by tinkering with it all the time, then ended up moving around too much to keep it, and gave it to a friend
1981 Yamaha XS650-Got it for free from the friend I gave the GS to, and still have it
1979 Yamaha XS400-Got it for free of craigslist, and after cleaning the carbs got it to start (still needs some tinkering) and I still have it
2009 Kikker- got it at the beginning of summer 2009, traded it for the Harley
1974 Harley Ironhead.
The only issue I can find with it right now is the starter is acting like the battery is low, but its fully charged, so I'm thinking its ether a lose/bad connection somewhere, or a worn out solenoid.
after I get the starter figured out I plan on giving the bike a good look over/clean, and probably a good old tune up (new plugs/wires/oil...) I also plan on getting some sort of baffle for the pipes, since the previous owner was talking about how he took them out and you can hear the bike for miles. (I am all for a good low rumble, but I have no need to make peoples ears bleed, nor do I want the open excuse to get pulled over) and a new paint job
Down the road I would like to ether get a hard tail section, or a hard tail frame, and build a girder for it (possibly add a degree or two to the rake so I can get a slightly longer front end, but nothing too long) and suicide shift. Other than that I plan on riding the hell out of it, and doing my best to make it the last Harley I will ever buy.
