Hi Gang
I'm new to the forums. I pick up my XL883C later this week. It will be my first Harley, but 3rd bike. It's been a few years since I've been riding and I'm pretty excited about it.
I do have a quick question... I've been reading that the Screamin Eagle slip-on mufflers are quite a bit better (louder, +hp) than the original stock. The thing I've wondering is if I should call the dealer and have them do the install (and carb adjustment) or if I should just do it myself after I take posession?
Thanks in advance. I hope to learn a trick or two from these forums.
Cheers,
James
My advice would be to have your dealer add your Screamin Eagle slip-on mufflers. I just had that done to my '05 Ultra. We used the racing slip ons (not legal for street). Great power boost and very nice sound. You'll get lots of advice about different slip ons and complete systems here. I don't think you can go wrong having your first big upgrade done at the dealer. You are going to have fun with that Sporty! Ride safe.
Howdy Jim, welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new Sporty. I also had mine done at the dealers, because he said that it would be covered under warranty, I like warranty. Enjoy the ride.
Welcome to the forum. I'll second what everyone else has said and remind you that there are 2 SE Slip-on options. Roger mentioned the "racing" ones - not legal for street use, These are often referred to as SEII's. This is what most of us run. Much better in my and most of our opinion's than the standard Screaming Eagle.
Two other options...
1. Don't have it done now, so you can realize the difference and poser and go "WOW!" from personal experience.
2. Look into the Harley 2 into 1's. Even more power thatn the SEII's. I thought about this, but money and afraid of it being too loud talked me out of it. Now I am VERY happy with the sound of my SEII's and also the power. Art
