Default New to Harleys...

Whats up people, just joined the site so I can learn more about these bikes, and hopefully contribute as well.

I'm new to bikes, going to pick up my first one tonight, it's a 2002 Softail, pretty much stock 3700 miles, Arlen Ness billet wheels, S&S carb, and shotgun exhaust.

It's a blank canvas.... and I have a lot of things I want to do.

I want to put FL style fenders on but have no clue what fits what, everything I see online has years, but I never see stamped repros for 02's.

Plus, I've seen a couple bikes with FL front fenders with the skinny tire... let me ask the HD Crowd, does that look funky?

Thanks guys, look forward to sharing as it goes along, but have a lot of learning of what works with what before I can start doing anything.

Want to stay pretty basic, FL Fenders, slam it, ape's and a solo seat. (for now)

The absolute, very, first thing you should buy, is... the service manual. Nothing, or no one will ever be able to teach you as much as you can learn from one. And nothing else will ever save you as much money as reading until you have a thorough understanding of your new bike. Got to the dealer, or e-bay, or whatever. Worst-case scenario, you'll have to order it and you'll have it in a few days.

Let me ask you this... If you could buy a service manual for your lady-friend, wouldn't you be much better off?
BTW... very nice looking bike. Be safe, and have fun.
