Good Evening! I'm looking into purchasing a 2011 Fatboy, and I was curious on what exactly it would take to get the engine to be louder. I plan on commuting in traffic to and from work, and think some louder pipes might be a little safer.
Anyways what exact part do I need to replace from the stock to get it louder? Is it the muffler (the last foot of the pipe) or is it something else?
Also, any recommendations? I'm flipping through the H-D book and noticed "screamin'n eagle pipes".
I'm not really looking for a particular look, the stock ones (chrome, just like on the H-D fatboy website) look fine, i just thinking sound/louder.
Don't get the SE pipes if U want louder... there barely louder than stockers...
Slip-ons is the cheapest way to go.... nothing else needed to do that...
New pipe systems is the next option. but most do the A/c with that,, if so, U will need to then add some kind of F/M to get the A/F ratio down to keep the motor from being to hot....
Thats whats call a stg 1 mod....
many, many ways to go... just pends on how much $$$$ U want to spend..
Most good Stg 1 with new muffler system and dyno tune will run $900-$1300 pretty easy.

Welcome aboard from New York. The Screaming Eagle pipes are deeper and louder than stock and are a good option if you don't want to be setting off car alarms.
So ... Sorry for being green, vwhat exactly is a slip on? Sounds like something a chick would put on at the beach, can you elaborate a little and provide a recommendation on a brand? Does Harley make 'em or should I shop elsewhere and is it something I can super crazy easily bolt on or do I need special equipment ?
Thanks

Thank You, & Good Morning,... So can someone please describe a slip-on? Is it something I can easily bolt on myself, or is it something that requires a mechanic to do? Also what is the size of a slip-on? Is it like the last foot or two of the pipe or is it something that goes on the end that is only a few inches?
welcome from north carolina, slip ons are mufflers only. You losen the clamps on the stock mufflers, wiggle them off and then "slip on" whatever kind of mufflers you want. No other mods are needed and this something anyone can do themselves

I do like to hear them roar once in a while... and I guess I'm just an old fart... most of the guys say that "loud pipes save lives"
BUT... I rode about 300 miles behind a friend with a nice set of pipes and it convinced me to keep my stockers.
I'm sure its just me....
