I've been lurking on here for a little while, and I finally decided to pull the trigger and sign up for an account. I have no experience on a bike, so I'm the newest of the newbies. I've been reading quite a bit, trying to get a good idea of where to start, what motorcycle to start with, etc.
Right now, I'm planning to take the local MSF course sometime in the next couple of months and start looking for a used bike. I'll probably start off with Honda Shadow 750cc, Yamaha V-Star 650cc or some other foreign used bike I won't be really upset about if/when I take a spill. I've thought about starting off with a HD Sportster, but I still think that may be too much bike (both in money and power) for me to jump into fresh at the start. Once I get a good feel for it, I imagine I'll look to upgrade to a more powerful one within a year or so.
Any ideas/suggestions/tips/advice is welcome. Hoping this is the start of life of good riding.
Thanks for the welcome. And that's a nice ride. How was it getting comfortable with the 1200? I'm a little hesitant that it'd be a little too much bike for me to start, but I know several people suggest just getting the one you want and learning on it from the start.
