Hi! Just joined today. Been riding for about 6 years now (started in my 30s), going from Hondas to Suzukis. Really started looking in earnest for H-Ds since seeing the new models @ the Int'l Bike Show here last January. Finally got a new black Road King in April, after debating between that & the Softail (close call, but went for the hard saddlebags). Awesome ride--never had a bike that fit so well.
Ride to work most days about 75 mi round-trip, also most every weekend. Love long trips when I can, but these tend to be hard for Mrs. Groundhogger; so when we ride together, tends to be around the region. I've completed 2 Iron Butt rides, around the lower Great Lakes 1st time & all 5 Lakes 2d time. Would do it again in a second!
Mrs. G started riding about 3 yrs ago. Actually started on a Piaggio MP3 scooter (2 wheels in front, narrow wheel base) but struggled w/ it initially. She took the MSF class & fell in love w/ standard bikes @ that point. Started on a Honda Rebel, then upgraded to her current mount, a 2001 Suzuki Intruder 900, after 3 months.
Also in the garage is a 2007 Suzuki Burgman 650 scoot (which I use for commuting sometimes) & the Mrs' Kymco Downtown scooter (trade from the Piaggio). Good to trade off every so often, but a completely different feel.
We've done some group rides, not too many. I'll be doing America's 9/11 ride in a couple weeks, looking fwd to that very much. Too long a trip for the Mrs., so hoping to meet some great people there.
