Find your post interesting since I installed a new alternator rotor I fill a slight more roughness I think since it is slight. My original factor one had 3 spots drilled in balancing it. The one I replaced it with came from Harley at the local dealer but was not balanced. Was not even completely cleaned up from a turning operation. Have my doubt that the manufacturer could have balanced it when gluing in the magnets. You can not see the drilled spots in my attachment on the old one with the sheared spline.
