V&H Big Radius question

Default V&H Big Radius question
1st post in many years. Previously known as Lipper, but I have since changed emails and can't recover previous account.

Recently a friend with an 06 Springer removed his Big Radius pipes and gave them to me. I have an 05 Deuce with the Stage-1 upgrade/air filter and HD slip-ons. .... My question is can I simply switch out the V&H pipes without a tuneup from HD. Those guys wanted $900 for the job and claim the bike will run lean/backfire a lot. .... The guy I got them from says the computer will adjust fuel just fine and I have nothing to worry about.
