new SD rider needs some advise

Hey everybody I'm Kevin I'm a mechanic out in oceanside CA. Bought my harley jan 31st. She's a beautiful 96 dyna fxd. Unfortuantely the motor blew on the ride home. Previous owner did a ghetto repair and then traded it into a dealership with out them knowing. Atleast that's what they're tellin me. Problem is they waited a week to tell me about the motor then told me it was gonna take 30 days to get a new motor and install it. Didn't hear from them the whole month until they were ready for my march payment and I asked what was going on with it . They told me that the motor had just arrived and it should be ready by Saturday. Its now almost a week later and I finally got a call saying the bike is ready. My questions this has anyone elses expirence s with HD been like this and did they try to compensate you. I'm not trying to to be greedy or not appreciative of them giving me a new engine and install for free, but I feel like I should be compensated for something since they failed to provide a rental or meet they're own deadlines twice. That bike was my main source of transportation and I've had to pay a lot over the past two months to get me to the different locations my job requires me to go to. Any advise or tips is welcome and appreciated.

Ever hear the old saying, "Let the buyer beware?" From what you explained, I should think you'd be doing hand stands and jumping around for joy, that dealer ate the whole expense of a new engine for you. Other's might chime in differently, but as for me, I don't think you have a leg to stand on expecting anything else.
