As the title suggests I'm joining the HD family in the near future. I'm a 25 year old army active duty rider. Been on a motorcycle since I was legal to drive, and love every day of it.
I learned to ride in the sunny state of Florida, but earned my true experience in Washington State. Drove nearly year round rain, shine, and bitter cold. I'm currently riding in the lovely Tropical Island of Okinawa Japan! Boy, life is much better then WA!
I've been paying into a program to buy my HD now for about 1 1/2 years. I've been very eager for my return home next year to see a shinny brand new Harley waiting for me at the local Dealer.
I join for a few reasons though. Firstly, I'd like some input on the different motorcycles HD offers. Not the user review type. I've read more then enough of those. I want details from real riders, who live and breath HD. That's why I join.
I've Ridden import supersport motorcycles for years. However, recent changes in my back health have shown me, I cannot stay hunched over a fuel tank all day any more! Shame, I love it so.
So HD owners, which of the Sportsters do you prefer, and why?
I was leaning towards the Forty eight, Iron 883, or the Nightster. I love the mix between classic and modern. Without the Chopper super high bars. I'd prefer that nice neutral position for riding. But to still have the power, quality, and ability to customize how I see fit.
Well, I've made a considerable post. So I'll end it here. I thank you for any insight into these machines. And I look forward to choosing my very own HD in the near future!
Welcome to the HDF family. Just remember we are a dysfunctional family, with dirty old men, crabby uncles, derelicts and uptight buzzkills. But we do put the fun in dysfunctional, so don't take anything personal!
