8-6-05: I traded in my ‘02 Heritage Softail Classic (FLSTC) for an ‘06 Roadking (FLHR). Loving it so far (only able to put on 100 miles due to other obligations but I’ll be racking up the miles soon. Average around 12,000 miles a year). Only thing is the bars will probably have to go. Causes the dreaded pain between the shoulder blades. I know this will probably be blasphemy on this web site but I also recently picked up a leftover ‘03 Suzuki SV1000N because I like all kinds of riding (traded in a ‘99 TL1000S). I also have a ‘77 Triumph Tiger and two Suzuki DR350S. Yea, five; count ‘em, five bikes in my garage right now. And what’s even worse is the FLHR is bike number 15 for me. Yea’ I’ve been at it a while and I do have the fever BAD!
Thanks for the welcome Folks. I do plan on moving the stock bars around to see if I can get them more comfortable before buying anything else. I haven't gotten my shop manual yet (Dealer didn't have any 06 manuals in stock). How do you get the cover off the handlebar clamp to access the pinch bolts?
If you need info on the site, please use the search to see if the issue has been previously addressed the search is a really good tool to find stuff on the site. By all means feel free to ask questions, it will take you a little while to learn to find everything, heck I still can't find some stuff.
Welcome to the forums from the Arizona Highlands. Congrats on the new RK. By all means use the search function as John has said. It is the quickest way to get an answer to most questions.
Glad you found us. I'm 6'3" and on an EG Standard, I had the same pain that you speak of between my shoulder blades. I put the Corbin Dual Tourer seaton my ride and it solved my problems. Seat moves you back about an inch and down. At the time, I already had Wild1 chubby W0575 bars on order, when they came in, I put those one. WOW, huge difference. I'm able to ride all day with out pain, and it is nice.
Do a search down in the Touring Forum, and you'll find all this documented...
Hope this helps.
