Default New 2007 Roadking Classic

New rider of the 2007 Roadking Classic. Been riding for 40 years, and so far this is the most comfortable ride I have had. (but this is the first jump from sport to touring) The chopper were nice and fin, but now I really enjoy the smooth ride.

Hope to talk to more of you with new Roadkings to compare notes. I have had really no problems with the exception of the bolts on the motor casing starting to corrode. Kinda strange, looks like they were on my boat, with a light white power corrosion on them. HARLEY SAYS - TOO BAD - TOO SAD ...so I had to spend $450 to change all the bolts out to chrome.

Two other things that needed to be changed by me were the handle bars and the seat ..oh my does your butt hurt with that stock seat. Probably why you see them for sale on Ebay for $50 ..LOL I changed to Chubby Mini Apes to get the bars higher and back towards me. The stock configuration had me leaning forward over the tank .. that is back breaking on a long ride! So with a Mustang Touring Seat ...some Chubby Mini-Apes and I am way comfy now. I don't blame this on Harley as they have to set some standard, and it really can't work for everyone. heck, I paid extra in the truck for adjustable pedals ..adjusted it once and never used it again.

I had the re-map done and I really did not see any difference. My next purchase will be some pipes. I have people telling me Screaming Eagles and Stage 1 .. or Hines and Stage 1. There are many choices, but I feel I need to let the dealer sell them to me and install them so I don't have any warranty issues. (you know how they are)

Let me know your thoughts on your new 2007 Harley Touring .....

Don

Welcome, I just purchased my classic near the end of December. I've only put about 400 miles on her because of the cold weather is now here in Ohio. Anyway, I love it so far. I think the stock seat is very comfortable. If spring rolls around and my butt starts to hurt from longer rides I'll probably get the SunDowner seat. I'm only 5' 8" and I'm going to need some new bars to bring them closer to me. I'm thinking about the chubby 508's beach bars but seem to be much more closer for us short folks. I have 12" mini apes on my other bike and like them, but I think I'm going to stay with the classic look this time around. I wouldn't waste your money on the newer Screaming Eagles because in my opinion they are way too quiet. Barely louder than stock. I'm probably going to put on Vance and Hines Big Shot Duals, K&N 3909 AC, and a Power Commander III. I'll do this myself because I'm descent with the wrench and the dealer can't void your warranty for doing those mods. They can give you a hard time, but they need to prove that the mods you put on caused the warranty claim that you are making.

Anyway, Welcome and enjoy the King... it is a great bike!

Ralph
