New from Savannah Area
Seems like a good place to hang out and get up to speed on the new HD stuff. I grew up racing motocross but moved to Brit bikes in my 20s. I spent several years on a 79 FXS but sold it when I moved to Japan in 2002.
I'm a fifty year-old aerospace "professional" by trade, but refuse to be identified by my work. I like bikes, muscle cars, playing bass guitar, and hanging with the wife. I'm from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma but currently live in Savannah Georgia for my job.
I'm back in the US for the last few years and getting ready to order a new Street Bob. I need to get the money straight (401K) before placing the order through the H-D1 experience. If all goes well, I'll be in the saddle again by Christmas.
I have the bike all spec'd out.
Simple black paint with plans for custom paint later.
I thought I would try the red anodized wheels.
Black 103 engine.
SE Heavy Breather Intake
SE black Street Performance slip-ons
SE 255 cams.
16" black apes with black mirrors and levers.
For now, that's all I want to pay up front. I figure I can add other touches once I decide on the custom paint. I'm not much into "themes" like skulls and such (no judging, just not for me.). I like the bike to speak for itself. My theme is basically "Motorcycle". In the end, I am going after the same look as my first Triumph. I took my Dad's 1962 T100, hung some apes on it, painted everything black, and proceeded to waste my youth (Yes, Fonzie had a small amount of influence on me (although he didn't actually ride his bike.)
Just for fun, I thought I would share some pics of my last three bikes. Unfortunately, my ex threw out my old film shots of my 79 Low Rider.
When I first moved to japan, I looked at the Harley's but the price mark-ups were ridiculous (like CVO prices.)
I ended up buying this 2003 BMW R1150R (same as the 2004 model stateside.) Fun bike, and the BMW community is close-knit. After a few years, the maintenance costs were just too much for a guy living in an apartment. I had to use ther dealer for small stuff like oil changes. The Boxer engines need routine valve adjustments twice as often as most other bikes.

My buddies all had sport bikes so I started looking for a different ride. I ended up with a Yamaha MT-01. It isn't sold in the US. It's supposed to be a Europe only model, but the dealer had a back-door process of re-importing this model. No additional taxes.
Air cooled, 102" motor. Same as the Yamaha Warrior but with titanium innards. Stock is 110 FT/LBS of torque and 90 HP. The stage 1 kit brought it to a dyno'd 131 FT/LBS of torque and 101 HP. I LOVED this bike. An unfortunate incident with a Tokyo city bus ended my relationship with this bike. Oh well, I moved home 6 months later.

Being back in the US, I had to re-stock my music equipment. As a result, I bought a little toy Yamaha just to kick around and get to work. WR250X. Supermotos are a freaking blast to ride, but incapable of more than a couple of miles on teh highway (top speed is 80mph with a strong tail-wind.) I sold it to buy yet another bass guitar!!

Finally, now that I have enough instruments to host an all-star concert, I am ready to pull the trigger on what I hope to be my "until retirement" bike. a 2013 Street Bob
Simple starting point.
103" motor
Black on black (with a plan for custom paint later.
SE Street Performance slip-ons (after extensive research here, thank you very much!)
SE 255 cams
SE Heavy Breather intake.
16" black apes with matching black cables, hoses' levers and mirrors.
I need to get some 401K funds sorted out before I can order this baby, but I am already foaming at the mouth!
Here is a canned shot from the H-D1 Bike Builder site.

I know I'm new here, and I don't have my bike yet, but I REALLY appreciate all the hospitality on this forum.
