Pickin up my 'new' '76 XLCH Ironhead this Friday 12.15.12 in Titusville. It's mostly original and un-chopped. Engine, trans and most parts are original I am looking for an original right-side shift lever. Not happy with the current suicide home rig handle. Bike is in good condition and runs super. Inside cases are clean too. Bought a new 6x12 V-nose for excursions and event repairs. Titusville is 17 hours from here. This is my first bike in decades and I can't be sure of it on that long of an initial trip (especially in December) so I'm playing it safe.
My other vehicles are a 1953 Dodge Power Wagon pick-up, a 1993 GMC Suburban K3500 4x4 (yes a 1-ton), a 98 Altima, and several road/touring bicycles. I have a 1400 ft2 garage plus carport with metalworking equipment. Can you guess what my next bike will be?
This is my first Harley. Why? Well you folks already know that answer. Why an Ironhead? It sounds baaaaaaaaaaaaad! and I love vintage stuff. Heck, I AM vintage stuff. LOL. I'll be need the voice(s) of experience so that is part of why I joined here. Another recent 'join' last week was Patriot Guard.
Whereabouts in Central Virginia are you? I'm part way between Charlottesville and Richmond (closer to C'ville). Lots of nice riding around here. Welcome aboard and enjoy that bike!
