Hello and welcome to the forum. I would recommend doing a search for this and reading some of the posts. Several methods have been discussed at length including one that does not require cutting the pipe at all.

gut the cat and add some xied's to richen the AF ratio slightly. this is a lot of bang for your buck.

Welcome.
I read in another thread that you can use a long 1" spade bit and go in from the end to ream out the cat without cutting and welding.
Just not sure if that would remove all the cat material?
