i have a 2011 roadking classic. has about 3,00 miles on it. took it in and dealer said my clutch is bad berfore they dyno tuned it. my question is . is there suppose to be some play in cable comming up or should i say at the clutch handel were the cable attaches. a few people tell me this and just wondering.
Your clutch is bad after 3000 miles!!??
You should have approximately 1/8" of free play up at the perch. Where the clutch lever meets the perch where the cable enters. When you pull the clutch lever, you should have a gap of 1/8" when you feel the cable tighten up.
number one get a manual, 2 read it. there is to be some play at the handle, my manual says about 1/8". i have 5500 miles on my 2012 SG and the clutch seems fine. i will find out when i get it dyno'd. but for now no slipping or dragging. keep your eye on it and adjust it the way the manual says too. good luck!
