2002 Dyna Superglide. I need to change the rear tire. I've been pacing myself on tool purchases to what I need (have most everything). I used a car jack for a Sportster but the Dyna is a bit too heavy and not going to be as nice trying to go MacGyver.
I have 3 options:
1 The scissor jacks you see on the 'bay for about $50 like this guy.
2 A full on lift like this one.
3 And a swingarm jack.
I would like it to be very compact for storage. I'm thinking number 1 would be most versatile but want to get your input. I try to do all my own maintenance. Swingarm jack looks easiest - but is it safe for a Dyna? I could splurge and get a lift like number 2 but I think it would be clunky to have in the garage.

The cheapest way to go is to lay the bike on it's side. Not a joke!
The scissor jack is generally used in conjunction with a table lift. If you're going to be doing routine maintenance on your bike, pick up a jack (your #2 option). The Black Widow, Sears Red jack, even the Harbor Freight cheapie will work just fine for tire and oil changes, cleaning, etc.
I just got the #2 jack option. Went out to play around with it, but kinda hit a wall. The Tranny pan hangs down, and the right frame rail has a skid plate on it (1999 FXDX). Throw the Jiffy stand in the mix and I can't find a decent jack point under the bike.
Checking alignment and oil levels requires a level bike, but I can't figure out any point to lift and keep the bike level. What's the trick? Tempted to break the welder out and modify the lift.
I've got the Black Widow, but mine's different than the one you've posted.
It works great for anything and everything I've done on the bike. From changing tires to replacing shocks (Shocks were a bit tricky).
I use a car scissor jack. Slacken off all the fasteners you need to do the job, while the bike is firmly on terra firma first and only tighten them up after the bike is back on its wheels. I also have a bike jack which supports the whole bike under the frame, which is the least you should buy IMHO, above your scissor jack.
Back in the '70s when I bought my first Harley, my dealer only used car trolley jacks and I've seen a Glide with both wheels out, sitting on two trolleys and the jiffy!

Finally used the right search parameters...Harley makes an adapter kit for jacking the older Dynas. Makes sense, as I couldn't see any way to jack it using a level jack.
