Default Shinko 777, dont do it

Well, put a new rear tire on in February, a Shinko 777. Supposedly this is a "long life" tire, rated for big touring bikes like my 2000 Ultra. Well, here it is middle of June, and it's shot. Granted, it stuck to the road like **** on velcro, but 4250ish miles is a joke. I'm not into changing rear tires as often as my oil.

Kenda: "manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, Mainland China, and Vietnam"
Shinko: "Shinko manufactures its tires in South Korea"

South Korea makes a lot of good quality stuff, Taiwan, mostly pretty good, China and Vietnam... if it's rubber or food, I'll pass. I just bought two front MT90/16 Avon Cobras, $118 each from Dennis Kirk. Not enough difference in price to me to not buy one of the best brands available.

I personally have had very good experiences with Kenda tires and 2 frIends that use shinko and seem to like them, one on a 2001 fatboy and the other on an 06 road king

If you are gonna run a Shinko 777 on a Harley touring bike, make sure it is a 777 HD, and run the pressure at 44 psi in the rear. Tire wear is due to many factors, not the least of which is your right wrist.

I got the same mileage out of a Pitelli night dragon and a Avon Venom X before... Never again...4000-5000 miles isn't enough...I don't care how it sticks.

You either ride 5000 miles in a straight line or you like to burn the tire. Also, that bike is NASTY.

90% of my riding is around town. With a stock 88 engine, I dont think it could "burn the tire" if I tried.....As far as NASTY, I prefer to be out riding, not primping my bike. It gets washed when it rains.....

Shinko is supposed to be the tooling from Yokohama tires when they left the motorcycle market. If the Yokos were as **** as the Shinkos, I dont know how they have the reputation they did. It was an improvement in ride over the Dungflop that was on the bike, but the wear sucked. For the record, I've used dungflops on many bikes over the past 20 years, never liked the feel or the handling of the bikes with them installed.
