Getting ready to put new tires on and wanted to make sure the tire is mounted in the right direction. The only difference in the two sides of the front wheel is the valve stem which was pointed to the right side on my bike. The discs are directional and I saw the the disc marked "Left" was on the right side and visa-versa. The spiral pattern on the disc makes sense the way they are mounted and matches all the pictures in my manual and most I've seen online, but they are stamped different. Could be the dealer I bought the used bike from mount the tire on backwards, but does it matter which way the discs face?
tire should have arrow showing direction and as far as discs being on the wrong side switch them around. I know that bolts on rotor are supposed to be one time use but have yet to see anyone put new ones on including the dealership just use some locktite on them and you should be good
Probably be a hell of a lot easier just to get the tire mounted properly. Do you have abs? Look to see which side the abs bearing is on...that will tell you the real story.
op says valve stem is on the right as it should be, so if the rotational direction of the tire is correct he may have the rotors backwards but other than for cosmetic reasons I don't think it matters but personally I would correct them
Tires being mounted backwards is unfortunately more common then you would think. As stated, look for the rotation arrow. You want everything spinning in the designed direction, swapping the rotors is a one beer job with the wheel off the bike, good luck.
That is my question Mallard Slayer. The rotors appear to be on the correct side, but they are marked opposite. They've been working fine and appear to be original so I will leave as is.
Yes - right is the air filter side and left primary Tom84FXST.
here is a photo of mine if yours looks the same your good to go!! On my bike the rotor marked right is on the air cleaner side and the one marked left is on the primary side I just went out to my shop to verify, valve stem on AC side sorry it isnt closer best photo on my computer
