If I put a 130/70/17 tire on the front of my ultra will I be able to notice a difference. I the current size is 130/80/17. Will it change the rake or mess with the abs.
Which brand of tyre are you considering? Check that the smaller section tyre has a suitable load rating for a heavy touring bike. IMHO you are most likely to discover that the lower section gives you a poorer ride, although that is not guaranteed.
ABS is calibrated for the diameter of the stock tires, change in tire size that is smaller/lager will have the ABS thinking there's a problem because the rotation ratio is off. Yes a lower profile tire will give a different ride. When I'm riding a Street Glide with a lower profile than an E glide I can tell the difference. To me it seems "busier" in that you feel more and smaller road imperfections that the higher profile tire sidewall absorbs. Some might say it gives a better feel of the road but I doubt many are riding close to the extremes where that additional road feel would assist in handling.

I am pretty sure this is NOT the case. The ABS is much simpler (and hence less error-prone), it only works off the ABS bearing. Plenty of threads on here that discuss this...

Yup, not sure why some people try to overcomplicate things by making stuff up....
Absolutely right! I think my mind was (is?) still obsessed with the pulley conversion I am planning, which does require such a readjustment... But the front wheel definitely does not deliver any information to the speedo 🙈
