New front tire tread depth

Default New front tire tread depth
My front was down to 3/32", headed out of town soon. You know how hard it is to find a tire with the pandemic(people getting paid to stay home)
so I found a Commander 2. Ive heard some sizes have a bad reputation.

heres my question.

new Commander has less than 5/32". Is that normal? I don't feel the rush to change the tire for such a small gain.

There aren’t any “Issues" with the Commander 2….The C3 has issues in TOURING SIZES.

I don’t recall what the new tread depth is on the C2s, buts it’s more than 5/32. How are you measuring them?

There are issues with the CIII in 21” sizes as well.
Not sure if I’m going back to the CII or Metzeler 888 when it’s time.

5/32 is new, center tread. 3/32 was 1/2 worn. They say to replace at 1/32 but that's cutting it too close for me!

Commander II’s will suit you well and the normal 5/32” new will be good. What about the date code? That’s important as well.

Yes thanks on the date code. Just went through that two weeks ago with the previous tire

Avon tyres generally have 8mm rear and 4mm front tread depth.
