In addition, if you're referring a Laced Spoke wheel (not 9-spoke wagon wheel), then you could add 05-07 Sportsters to using the same wheel

You are an absolute legend. I've been refrained from asking you directly because I've seen you addressing the same issue from various angles. I thought it was 00-08. The big issue I've found is people not knowing the pedigree of the wheels they are selling. I have the part number for the laced wheels, but many I've seen have a tire on them that covers the part number. I initially searched for a replacement hub, so I could have Buchanan's re-lace it, but I quickly realized it would end up cheaper to buy the whole wheel, especially when you add new bearings and swapping the tire.

I went as far as rolling the dice on a touring wheel I was told was from that date range, but the hub wasn't right.
Alas, I finally found a set of wire wheels from another 08 Road King that even had new tires on them. Guy only asked $300 for them!

Now I'm stuck with the task of finding another compensator basket. A Harley tech told me I could use some star washers and run the bowl with the wallowed-out holes, but I'm not sure I want to risk that. I wonder if anyone has tried welding one up and redrilling the holes? Seems that would work if you had a template for the hole spacing.

That same tech also told me the first few damaged threads weren't a big deal, as HD taps the holes in the hub about a half inch deeper than they need to be, meaning some longer M8 Bolts would secure it. Another thing I might try in a pinch, but I'm not in a pinch.

The holes are tapped deeper so the shoulder of the bolt gives the bolts extra support. I would not play with any wheel with damaged holes. How about contacting a wheel restoration shop for advice?

Oh, I'm with you on that one. I actually found a good set of wheels off another 08 Road King. I'm gonna run those as soon as I get the bowl and hardware for this damn kush drive.

I didn't include the 2000-01 rear wheels as they use a 3/4" axle/sleeve. They would need the center bore enlarged to use. The Part# you would see under the Tire would be for the Rim Only and Not the complete wheel assy. While it is true that a lot of "Sellers" misidentify wheels, when you become familiar with differences (often subtle), it's easier to self identify which is needed particularly for online purchases.

As far as the compensator bowl is concerned, I may have one if interested
