I've used the sticky rope plugs in everything from tractor and mud truck tires to sportbike tires. Never once had an issue before the tire had to be replaced due to wear.
If I made tires for a living, you better believe I'd tell people their lives were at risk repairing a tire. My experience has been different, however.
You will probably get away with running a plug as was said...but the right way (and a lot more work) to plug a tubeless tire is with an internal patch, Napa carries them individually.
