Default Dual disc hub conversion question

Sorry if this has been addressed before haven't really found any info. Can I use a dual disc hub from a factory 16x3 wheel to convert my 04 softail 21x2.15 wheel to dual disc?

Yes, you just have to figure out the right length of spokes, and then find someone to lace it.

Thanks for the help Brian. I will buy the 16x3 wheel so I can use its hub.

All you need is an expert wheel builder, who will magically supply the correct spokes and give back a built wheel. Much simpler......

Or you can do what I did and get a wheel from a Touring model and mount it up as it is, but that won't be a 21" wheel. They are dual flange hubs to start with.

There may be spacer issues to resolve due to the new hub size and the installation of the Touring lower fork legs you are going to need as well.

You can use the older 16X3 ones or get a newer 17X3 unit. Depending on your year and that of the wheel you may have bearing/axle size issues but that's not a difficult fix. The axles went from 3/4" to 1" to 25mm but they all had the same 52mm outside diameter so it's just a matter of replacing the bearings and internal spacer.
