Default 2006 wheel fitment

I was thinking of getting chrome wheels for my '06 Ultra and I was wondering if I could fit newer model's wheels to my older frame or are there fitment/clearance problems? Thanks

I have also wondered about using wheels from other models. If you look on Harley's website at bearing kits for modern wheels you will see they seem to fit the whole range. So it looks as if we have a free hand!

I have a Deuce rear wheel I plan fitting to my 07, by swapping from 3/4" to 1" bearings. Being a solid disc a chrome one should look good under the saddlebags and most twin rotor fronts will fit your bike.

In some ways you are going the wrong way with this question. There are good secondhand stock wheels available because so many owners fit chrome wheels! I reckon my Deuce wheel has only ever had one tyre on it, it is in such good condition.

Actually I was looking at the re-chromed wheels they sell on the Bay but I wasn't sure about fitment as they state the year of the bike the wheels should go on,had they been interchangeable why would they limit their prospective customer's pool?Or maybe I'm wrong.....

I guess what happens is they tell us which models and years they came off, so they can do straight exchanges. Harley only seems to use particular wheels on certain models and doesn't swap them around the model range, but I suspect we can if we choose to. I haven't seen anything that tells us which ones we can do that with, but that is why I referred to their bearing kits, which fit the wheels from every model range.

Around 2000 Harley introduced sealed wheel ball bearings, to replace the old tapered roller ones. Some early sealed bearing bikes had 3/4" ID bearings while others had 1", but the OD of all is the same and they can be interchanged. Recent bikes since 2008 have metric 25mm bearings, but again they interchange.

I reckon we can fit wheels up to 2008 on bikes going back to 2000. If there is a particular set you like the look of it would be worth asking the seller, even your local dealer.
