Default Tire wear question.

Just today I happened to notice that my front tire has noticably more wear on one side than the other. I have about 9000 miles on the bike. Have only been riding for about 5 years. Is this normal?

Thx,
Vinny

Here is how it was explained to me from a tire man. Not saying I believe him, just that it was explained like this.
He says the tire should wear more on the left side that right because in the US, since we ride on the right side of the road, our left turns are longer than our right turns. So the tires spends more time on the left side than the right.

Question

Thanks for the reply. Funny thing is, mine is worn more on the right than left. I'm in Canada and as I'm sure you are aware, we drive on the right side as well.

You need to check you alignment. Yes, bikes have wheel alignment - a little different than on a car, but just as important.
It's in the manual. Go with method B.

One of my riding buddies also had his front wear more on the right than the left on his bagger. I do think that even though Canadians drive on the right side also, it's still somehow backwards up there.

Talked to the dealer's service people. They said the average person makes way more right than left turns, nothing unusual about the wear pattern and mileage. Any idea how many miles until you replace rubber on average?

Me too. That actually makes less sense than what the tire guy told me.
