Default Spacer question

So just got my wheel 3 wks after ordering I was told it would be bolt on right out of the box well it isn't. The spacer on the rotor side is about a 1/16 -1/8 to small
I have some big washers that are about the same width that I need to tighten things up can I just drill out the center hole to match the axle and use the washer ? I would keep the spacer on the bearing Side and put the washer on the fork side ,sounds easy enough is there any reason I shouldn't do this? Thanks In
Advance for any help

I used a shim between the spacer and fork leg on the rotor side of my low rider no problem, to be temporary until I get one custom machined.
