I know the subject of Torque wrenches has been covered before and I've searched and read some posts. I've looked at Home Depot, Craftsmand, Harbor Freight etc. I am looking for something halfway decent for purely home use when installing various accessories on the bike etc. I've seen them go from $20 for a Pittsburg wrence to well over $200 for a Mac or Craftsman. I know you get what you pay for etc and all I want is something decent that will last and I may use it a dozen times a year if that. I've got a few Kury parts I need to install and they're specifying a torq of 18 ft/lbs etc. I am thinking a 3/8 drive from say 0 to 150 ft lbs or so. I just need something relliable and don't need the best out there. Craftsman has them for $70 on sale but Harbor Freight has basically the same Pittsburgh wrench for $29 and I could get a couple of different sizes for about the same money as one Craftsman. If I remember from my reading, the Craftsman's are not warranteed for life as are many of their other hand tools are.
Ok, how's bout some input for the occassional wrench... ?
go to harbour... I bought in-lbs and ft-lbs for cheap money and checked the calibration at work.... They are fruggle priced but work like the high priced......
I have two Craftsman torque wrenches....one in ft. lbs and the other in inch lbs. I'm very happy with both, and as I recall, they ran about $70 each. As stated above, you'll need both to work on your HD.
