Did you replace the stock internal shift lever (not foot lever, but the one behind the primary), or install the forwards using the method where you don't remove the primary? If you didn't remove the primary and kept the stock shift lever on, it is a bit more difficult to find neutral - this is the method I used and yes, finding neutal is a little harder. However, I've gotten used to it and don't have much trouble anymore. The lever that comes with the kit - that I didn't install since you have to take the primary off to get to it - is longer than the stock one, purpose being, that it gains you a little more leverage for an easier shift.
In my Situation it is really difficult sometimes inearly impossible to find neutral. I shut it off in gear most of the time when I stopped yesterday. Wow about 1/2 difference makes alot on my bike. I guess I will have to break Down and have the Dealer remove the inner Primary. Would you think purchasing the shorter front Shift lever arm from the '05 and earlier kit would make the work better with the stock shift arm in the rear? The '06 - later kit has a longer shift lever int he front. Maybe that is the difference. I think I may try that, alot cheaper thatn removingt he inner Primary.
It's much easier to hit neutral while the bike is running, at least for me. Also, if I start having trouble finding neutral I can do a clutch adjustment and it will get easier again. I also installed the '06 controls w/out removing the primary and replacing the shift shaft.

As far as the clutch adjustment. There was no problem finding neutral until I installed the forward Control Kit. I am having the problem with neutral when the bike is running.
I have the same issue on my 2008 Street Bob. As a matter of fact, it is so bad that I have taken to just leaning forward and grabbing the shift pedal by hand to find neutral.

It's hard to believe that that 1/2" on the rear Shift lever can mean so much. Funny I didn;t hear anything about it when looking up info. All positive. Well I guess it is time to let the Dealer remove the inner primary and do it right.
Wish I knew this in the begining , getting expensive now.
