Default Ultra Low

Finally sat on one of these and I was impressed. Sits lower than my SG and the bars are very comfortable. The grips are puny, but that is easily remedied. I also didn't think the seat was as much of a ball smasher as I anticipated. I think Harley did a nice job on these. Looking forward to giving one a test run when the weather improves.

And...did you buy it, or own it too?

Umm . . . No. Just stating my first impressions of it. If it were in stock at the time I bought my 2014 SG, it would have been a major consideration. I know I didn't report anything groundbreaking, but wanted to share a few quick thoughts for others who may be considering one but don't have access to it.

I just turned 3200 miles on my low. I changed the seat, windshield, mufflers, highway pegs shortly after purchase. The seat shoved me into the gas tank and lower fairings. I will reinstall the seat when I purchase the next bike. By the way, I love the new low, after a few adjustments. I relicensed the power vision and added a fuel moto air cleaner. I think the bike is faster than my 13 cvo ultra.

I got 632 miles on my new Low just before we got six inches of snow. I'm grounded 'till spring. The Mustang Low seat fit my '15 so I installed that, but it actually sets me a tad higher than the Low's seat so it's over at Mean City getting modified. I actually grew to like the dainty hand grips in those few miles, I don't think I'll change them. I have fuelmoto cermic coat headpipe and V&H monster ovals just setting there waiting for me to install. Then it's off to the dealer for SE air, a tuner and some dyno time. Didn't get many miles on the bike before winter, but I haven't found anything about the bike (except seat) that I don't like.

I sat on the Lows at my dealer as well. I had a similar reaction to the bikes. I love the stance, but was not sold on those new bars. Those grips seem very puny. After sitting on one I got the correct shocks front and rear to lower my Limited to the Low level. I did not change out the engine parts to make that slimmer. I will see if I need to do that next year after I get a few miles on it.

I did install the narrow primary and derby cover found on the low on my Limited. It does improve my ability to flat foot my left leg (along with lowering the front and back of the bike). However, I do still run in to the left passenger foot board when backing the bike up....But I no longer drag my leg against the derby cover.

I'm not willing to swap the passenger foot boards for the Low passenger foot pegs. Overall, I think swapping the primary and derby cover was worth it for me...YMMV.

I also switched out the passenger foot boards because I had adjustable Kuryakin's(sp) and chrome forks and and and --- I probably won't stop till it has the chrome of my 13 cvo ultra.

I did notice that the Low does not have heated grips. I like the reduced reach on the brake and clutch.
