Trying to get my ducks in a row here, I'm about to install these new apes on my 2014 street glide, I have the Namz extentions, can someone tell me, is the TBW the only connectors that actually go through the bars? and is the smaller connector just for heated grips and can it be left off, one less thing to thread through the bars.
I did 12" Yaffe Monkey Bars last year. I did the Namz extensions also. If you are asking what connector ends need to be fed through the bars, both side hand controls and the TBW connector remain intact and are pulled through the bars. If you bought the Namz plug and play extensions there is no cutting or splicing required. Just install these adapters between your hand control wires and factory plugs. The connector ends are rather small. Obviously the left side was easier because that is the only thing pulled through in that side. The right side is a little more difficult but not impossible. I ran the TBW first and followed up with the hand control wiring. Try and get it in the first shot though. Once them wires make it past the wicked bend, I have heard of the connector ends getting pulled off if you try and pull them back out to start over. Only real issue I had was on the TBW harness, there is a pack of some sort (I imagine its the module that houses the electronics) about 6-8 inches away from the actual unit and it wanted to bunch up just before the point on the bars, it was too big to make the bend so the wiring is looped back and fourth (S-shaped) just before the bend. I used what I call Dog Tag chain bought at the local hardware store to help run the wires. Drop it through the bars with the wires taped to it and pull them through. Also, I don't recall doing anything with the extra wiring for the heated grips. I think that is added when heated grips are installed. I could be wrong on that though.

Thanks for the reply, The original TBW cable is wrapped with a second 2 pronged cable, the replacement from Namz is just a the one larger TBW cable. I assumed this was a heated grip cable and wasn't needed. Is that not correct? and do the hand controls need to be pulled through the bars? the originals were routed outside
I had the same question about the extra unused plug on the TBW. I am in the process right now installing 12" yaffe money's on my '14 SG also. The bike is torn down and I have ran the switch wires threw both sides. I am hoping I can get the TBW threw still. I am waiting for it to get delivered. I also used the NAMZ extentions for TBW and both switch wires.
You can run the hand control switch wiring externally like stock but I wouldn't do it. Internal wiring is a pain in the rear but it is worth every bit of blood sweat and tears once completed. Cleaner is better! I rushed through running the wires through the bars and don't remember dealing with the heated grip cable. I just ran whatever was there and called it a day. I did not use an aftermarket TBW extension, I used stock. It was plenty long enough.
I got the 8in extention kit from Namz, it is truly a pain, with the plug n play kit i guess your expected to thread the cables through 2 different directions, the right hand controls have to go top down, the TBW bottom to top. I gave up. I'm going to take apart the Molex connector and thread them through together that looks to be the only way to do it. I also found that both the left and right controls need longer than 8" if you go internal. I could not get it to reach unless they were wired external. /shrug. And another issue, both the brake and clutch lines even with all of the zip ties cut are tighter than i would have liked. I'm not sure how to reroute them any better without disconnecting them completely. I was under the impression that just cutting zip ties was enough. I installed apes on my softail (non tbw) spliced all wires, replaced both brake and clutch cables and it still seemed a bit easier than on this bike. I will admit if i had someone to help the job would be going much smoother.
Unplug the hand control wires from inside the control housing. This will allow you to run it the direction of your choice. It unplugs on both ends. After you run it, plug it back in and reassemble your hand controls. The stock wiring will get you right at the opening at the bottom of the bars, just enough to plug the extensions in and 8" were long enough for me. As far as the cables, I actually had to remove the brake line from the cable holder at the neck of the frame. I made sure it was safe from being pinched and there was enough slack to work then I secured it in that location.
Sporty is right thats what I ended up doing. I could not get the right side switch wires threw untill I unplugged them from the switch control. There will be two little white plug ins. feed them from the bottom to the top and it took less than a min. I was going to give up too until I tried feeding from the bottom. Thats the key.
wow! i never even considered unplugging it from the controls. I was battling with that stinking molex for embarassingly too long trying to get it apart without breaking it. I gave up till i could do a little more research. I will give that a try tomorrow
I was almost to the point of giving up myself then I realized that it came unpluged from the hand control. Made things so much easier! Be careful with those little connectors. Make sure they are facing the correct direction before you push them together. Let me know how it goes and if there is anymore question I can help you with!
