I'm looking to see if anyone installed a set of vindikta apes on a 14 street glide special. I'm having issues getting the fairing to sit over the bars enough to be able to bolt down the fairing itself. I'm not talking about the igniton cover that they tell you to modify I'm talking about the fairing itself.

I had to use a dremel and shave some of the fairing in order for the fairing to sit properly on the bars, and for the upper side fairing bolts/screws to go in. Once that was done, I also hat to shave some of the ignition cover on both sides as the point out on their website. I dont have the exact measurement of how much I cut. I was sort of trial and error. Hope this helps.
A few other members here had to do the same with the fairing.
Weird your not the first person to tell me that. Joe claims that I was the first person to ever have this issue. He says that fairing modification above the bar is absolutely not needed.....huh

LOLOL I know the other guy that told you the exact same thing.
Mask it off, grind, re-fit, repeat
Heres the response from Joe from Vindikta
We've had no reported issues from over a hundred HD dealerships and independent shops that professionally install bars. Don't want you to modify your fairing. No professional installer has ever had to modify anything other then the corner of the lower cover. We are in continuos contact with some of the largest HD dealerships in the country for development and feedback. Some of which install dozens per month on 2014/15's. Shouldn't have to do major mods, if so, something isn't correct.
I just want to know what the deal is here? Are the specials fairings different?
he said it himself...modify anything other than the lower corner. yep.
the instructions from them said "will have to shave off 1/8' " to accommodate for the thickness of the bars.
I just a little curious how some people have to trim the upper inner fairing around the bars and others supposealy don't? For me im a little ticked off I buy bars that are a top of the line $500 set of bars that aren't even designed correctly for the bike. Yea they are sweet but why not just admit there is more trimming to be done than what's said.
