Default Tuners....HD

Ok I know this is just like the radio threads their are a lot of them, but I figured it would be easier for me to follow if I start a new one.

I Bought the harley pro tuner , they used to call it the race tuner.
Anyway I was wondering if it is the race tuner how come it seems like they don't have that many files you can down load , I put an Air Cleaner and slip ons on the bike, and plan to get rid of the cat with a new head pipe, but when you look at the files they only have, one listed as a stage one download with a/c and slip ons ,this list is as stage 1 but does not say anything about the head pipe with no cat. ? if it is the race tuner you would think they have an option for no cat. or more adjustments.

The reason I bought the harley tuner is cause you can do a data record, ride the bike with the vci in the record mode and look at the data later and make changes. I didn't want to get the tts one cause you can do data recording but you have to drive around with the laptop on the bike. I heard you can change tire size with the tts tuner , but I don't see that for the harley tuner, I thought if that was the only diferance I would go with the harley one, but now that I have it, it I am not sure but it seems a little limited.

Well anyway I just wanted to hear from other guys if they have the Harley tuner and see if they like it, where are they getting their downloads from, what mods they have, and if they know the difference from tts to Harley tuner.

I have air cleaner, se street canons, and plan to get the jackpot head pipe to get rid of the cat, I don't want to go to crazy with mods (cams and stuff) But since I had the mufflers and now I got the air cleaner everyone says you have to tune the bike, so just wanted to see others who have the harley tuner and what they have done., thanks.

Just curious; did you read any threads on here about which tuners are found to work REALLY well along with tuners that DON'T work that well and have huge flexibility in regards to different brands of equipment that might be on your bike, lot's of tunes to select from and auto tuning without the need of a laptop, etc?
Edit: you did know about the laptop one.

A Harley tuner means you need a dyno and about 4 or 5 hours on it to do a dynotune. My local dealer gets over $400 for that. Now, if you go to a reputable company and buy something that will have a tune for whatever you hang on your bike, you will be dollars ahead and in control. SE race tuners need someone that understands FE tables and parameters that confuse most folks. Try Dynojet or V&H fuel pak and check with fuelmoto a sponsor on this site.

I have the SEPST and yes there are not alot of download maps to select from but that's because they expect you to either have the bike dyno tuned or autotune it yourself. If there were 10 different stage one maps to select from and you went through each one you would not be able to tell any difference when riding. The differences between X and Y pipes is not enough to make a huge difference. These maps are a starting point, you load the stage one map and then you run autotune a couple of times and your good to go. Or you go have your local tuner run in on the dyno and fine tune the map. As for limits, I haven't found anything that it cant do that I needed done...lol.. If you want to change things like the AFR, timing tables, VE tables or any or the other stuff you can with the SEPST just like any other tuner. There is also a program called MyTune that can help you smooth the tune out and dial it in. Just search the interwebs and you will find it.

To '14Limited Yes I did , that is why I chose the screaming eagle super tuner pro tuner. On here the three that most people use or work the best are Dynojet , TTS, & SERT tuners , the others either don't work or don't have enough adjustment. The dynojet seems to be the most popular on here works well, but, when you buy it you have to tell the company you buy it from your motor set up so they can load a base map, but then you can auto tune and it will be ok.

Just like Webo and Hartto said I chose the sert tuner cause I can also an auto tune, and data record, but unlike the TTS I don't have to have the lap top connected to the bike, the harley VCI does the data record , put the VCI in my pocket , or saddle bag, come back hook it to the computer then I can make changes. I don't have to wait for some one to email me a new map.
Besides like what has beed said here before you really need a dyno a bike to get it right, Besides horse power sheets from a dyno, a good one has a gas analyzer built into it also so you know your air fuel ratio coming out of the exhaust.

Actually the new harley tuner was pretty easy to use, It don't even come with a cd , you just download the software from the interweb and I picked the set up i had loaded it to the bike and was done, it took longer to download the software, I drove the bike around and like Webo said you don't really notice it much, So since I am new to this I picked something I knew would not hurt the bike and something I would feel I changed the throttle progresitivty, and did notice a difference. Anyway I have to work so over the weekend I will mess with it more and do an auto tune and I am sure I will figure it out.
The only thing or complaint I have is the same as I have seen here, the instructions suck! that is why I asked opinion of others using the harley tuner.

I have the same tuner, downloaded the software, bought the cables. I put new headers on the bike. I posted on this forum in the ECM sub forum and asked if there were any maps. A member emailed me two maps that he had from dyno runs, the map was perfect, the bike runs great. If you get one close enough, you can always tweek it.
