Default Calling all programmers

I am pretty sure this is do-able but would like some input from dealer mechanics. I bought a CVO complete dash from a 14 SERK and going to install on my 14 RK. Side by side the wireing looks pretty close except for some colors of wires. The SERK dash came with a proximity sensor (that is what I am calling it right now) where my original ignition switch. The connectors are different on the ignition wires so I made a jumper and it turned on with my ignition switch but had a VIN error on the display I believe the display (mph/tach/etc) is programmed to the VIN. So someone can't take one from a low mileage bike and put on their high mileage bike. What I am just wanting to make sure of, is if I ride my bike to the dealer with the orig dash, install it or have the dealer install it ,takes like 5 mins, (or 1 hour in dealer time) and be sure they can program everything up to my FOB through the BCM?

Anyone want to weigh in?

So Harley in their infinite wisdom decided to lock Speedometers to VINs. So even if you take it to a dealer you will still get the VIN error. Does the same when you buy a new gauge, after like 100 miles the speedo locks to that bike.

If you buy a new gauge it locks to the VIN after 33 miles. I replaced mine with CVO gauges and the do a 33 mile countdown on the trip meter.

Pretty much all manufacturers do this these days.

How dare them try to prevent odometer fraud.

While I get the odometer fraud part. But the odometer reading on the canbus bikes comes from the ECM not the gauge itself.

Did you buy new or used? I got the vin error and wonder if I drive it 33 miles would it marry to my vin?

Is it new or used?

And I hate to say I may have been mistaken due to previous experience with Harley gauges. When I swapped my Street Bob gauge it locked in the mileage from the ECM. But I cant verify the new touring bikes do the same.

It is used, and has the proximity sensor in place of ignition switch. Different plugs so I jumpered my ign switch to the CVO harness and it did turn on, would start but had the VIN ERR on the display.

Yea might have an issue getting the dealer to connect it to your bike, being that it is used.

There were previous threads of folks swapping out CVO gauges and such and they all found that they needed to purchase new Speed O gauge, all others can swap but that one locks to the ECM and can not be changed.
