Default Which Switch!

I have a 2016 Limited and I have ordered a set of Moto Lights. I want them to operate with an accessory switch on the dash, do I need the 16.00 switch or the 119.00. one?
The 16.00 one has a short wire with 2 leads, the 119.00 one has a plugs and leads.

I bought the kit for mine which included the leads with wires, and a lead with a connector. The exposed wires are for less than 2 amp draw. The connector is for more than a 2 amp draw. I used the wired lead for my DK fog lights (1.8 amp draw) and have the other switch wired in and ready to go.

A word of caution-you have to take the dash panel out to put switches in place of the dummy caps. In order to get that dash panel out, you have to remove the ignition switch. Don't let your son turn the handlebars to the lock position with the ignition switch removed. It is a PITA to get them unlocked. I inserted the switch, but then the ignition cams were out of alignment. I had to fiddle around with a flat blade screwdriver for a while trying to get everything lined up properly.

Good luck. You can PM me if you want more info.

You want the $119 one, but that sounds high, I got mine for $80; it plugs into the harness for the turn signals, and then to the switch button group.

You don't need to remove the ignition. The dash is notched to come off around it. It's kind of tight and takes some rotation of the bars and some wiggling, but it can be done.

I do not think he needs the $119 one since his bike is a Limited. Could be wrong I'm sure somebody will chime in who has done it.

I hope you're right! I'm looking to do this as well, & would much rather only spend $19!

Yeah you could be right; I didn't think of that. I just looked at what year it was. my switch packs were all blanks to begin with. His shouldn't be.

If you remove the fuel tank that little switch panel comes out really easy, it's notched so no need to remove the ignition like on previous models, you don't have to remove the fuel tank, but its much easier if you do. JMO though.

On the Limited, the existing switch is for the spots. You'll want the $119 switch. Agree that the ignition does not need to come out to get the panel off. Just some patience and manipulation. Also note that the little tabs that hold the pods to the bottom of the panel are pretty week. Tread lightly with them or you'll break them off.

I added an accessory switch to my Limited. I bought just the button, removed the fairing cap without pulling the ignition or fuel tank. I also purchased a blank 8 pin molex plug and loose wire terminals. Total cost was like $23.00.

Replaced the blank next to the passing lamp switch with the new button. This button energizes the wiring in the empty 8 pin molex connector behind the left side cover. I used a test light to determine which 2 wires it switched in that plug. I ran my wires behind the left side cover, crimped terminals onto my wires and inserted them into the proper position on my 8 pin molex connector. Plugged in the connector and voila.

You can also buy a kit that comes with 2 buttons and the molex connector with pigtails already terminalled. It's around $60.00 if I remember correctly. The $119.00 kit comes with the whole switchpack, which you don't need. You have a switchpack already because of the Limiteds passing lamps.
