Default Handle bar adjustment

I'd like to roll the handlebars on my Ultra limited forward a bit. Has anyone tried this? Do I have to remove both outer and inner fairings or just the outer? I should just have to get access to the riser mounting bolts and loosen them. I feel slightly cramped with them and don't want to go the route of replacing all wires and cables with newer bars.
TIA.

You shouldn't have to remove the inner or outer fairing to adjust your bars. You need to remove everything on top of the riser clamp until you can see the bolts. loosen them, role them to where you want them then retighten. Nice easy job.

You need to remove the accessory switch panel in front of the tank.It is notched so you do not have to remove the ignition switch. There is a screw on either side of panel to remove, then work panel off toward tank and out.Make sure you cover the tank in front with a cloth. Now if I remember, you can rotate bar only so far because it is pinned from the factory. Some owners have removed this pin to get more adjustment.

I've done this a few times. It's easier if you turn the bars in each direction to loosen the bolts and adjust the adjusting screw.

Like said just take the screws out of the switch panel and slide it back against the tank. I use a long ball headed allen wrench to get to the screws, loosen the two you can see and you can move the bars. On my 14 limited it took me about 5 minutes.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll be doing this tomorrow morning. I guess the dealer is whacked - they wanted two hours labor to do this.

If you haven't done this yet touring bars can be moved once without removing anything. Hold bike upright off jiffy stand with one person on each side and together give it one big yank. Usually can only be done once but it works every time. Seen it done at least a dozen times.

Make sure it doesn't rub against the inner fairing or the lines don't get pinched between the fairing and handle bars since there isn't much room to move forward friend of mine damage both lines and his faring on his 14 SGS.

Well there's that... don't forget to add blinker fluid they stop working without it

I removed the switch cover and loosened the front two bolts and rotated it forward about a half inch. Nice improvement for me on the angle. Thanks for the advice.
