Often they will just update it right in the parking lot, and not bother to bring it inside.

So, having said that, I see no reason for me to mess around with software updates.....and I'm a fairly advanced PC user.
You bring up a good point.

If you have a good relationship with your dealer, I am sure most will take care of this simple process.
However, there are a lot of riders that only stop at a dealer when they want to complain about something.
If you don't have a good working relationship with your dealer, I can see where they might hesitate to go out of their way to help you.

And of course not everybody lives close to a dealer.
The closest dealer to me is a little over 50 miles away.
Although not far at all, I am usually not riding in that direction.
I am not going to go to the dealer for something that is easy enough to do myself.
To their credit though, they have always helped me when needed!

I guess I'm spoiled. I have 3 HD dealerships within 25 miles, 2 of which are within 13 miles of my home. The dealership that I like doing business with however is the one that's 25 miles away but that's where I prefer to go to. Treats me great, has a quality shop and always discounts anything I buy. So I choose to give them my business. I understand many have to travel much farther to get to a HD dealership.......

Been that way since new, late 2013. Guess that item/function isn't on the bugfix list.

I should have left well enough alone.
Back when I updated to .1 it fixed the FAV button that had not worked properly and all was well.
Should have stopped there but nooooo....being the Type A personality that I am I just had to go and get the latest update soooo....
Updated to .3 now FAV button doesn't work again.
Reverted back to .1 still didn't work so I said what the heck, now I'm back to .3

Drives me nuts when something that's supposed to work, doesn't, so let the "get used to it comments begin."

Any suggestions? Hard reset etc., etc., TIA

Trying to weed through 19 pages of posts to actually read about the update as opposed to reading about someone trying to do the update and not getting it is a real PIA. I wish they'd have a sticky with instructions on downloading and installing the software so EVERY TIME (and it is EVERY TIME) a new update comes out we don't have to read through pages and pages of "I can't", "Why won't", "What happens", we can just refer them to the sticky. Sorry if this sounds harsh but this has been going on since the first updates back in 2014 and it's gettin' kind of old...anyway, so what's the general consensus on this update, install the .3 or leave the .1 (which seems to be working fine) installed in the bike. Anything major new and improved from the .1 to the .3? Thanks!

I was super happy when the FAV button started working again with .1 and ever since .3, it has been working up until the other day. I reprogrammed it again and so far it's still working. I noticed this one time before and I suspect there might be a correlation with this: This recent time it quit working was right after I moved the bike a few feet in my garage and it tripped the security system. I noticed that a while back too (before.1) and I was meaning to try that again to see if I could replicate it.

i have five dealers in five different directions 25 miles to anyone of them and not one of them wants to do anything for you. most are very dumb when it comes to getting any information out of them. they are real eager to take your cash though. i've bought bikes from three of them.

Thanks for the easy info on how to install this update. I am really good with computers and this was my first time doing an update to my bike and it was very easy to download and extract them to my thumb drive, turn on the bike and plug it in and wait 5 minutes for it to be done. I have not experienced any issues with this update yet as I did it a few days ago and it seems great so far. I like not having to acknowledge the opening credit scene also lol. Did this even though I have a dealer within 1 mile of my house and don't regret not going since I would probably walk out with more gear....

I'm not computer literate at all,I know very little about them. All I did was I followed the directions on H D web site and had no problem doing the updates
I haven't played with the radio to see what's different, but at least in hoping it will take care of the radio not coming on at times.

Have you reprogrammed it?
Page 63 of the 2016 Boom Manual.

Everyone should download the newest available Boom Owners Manual as features change and are added with the software updates.

Downloaded and installed the:
Version: 1.20.3
Date Released: 2017-01-17

Been riding last weekend and seems that it doesn't keep the settings, for instance when I selected one of my favourite artist when listening to the music on USB it does play the last song played, but it 'forgot' which artist I was listening too.

Does anyone of you experience teh same?
Thanks!
