Do you leave it bundled under the left side cover? If not, where's it hanging out and what's it attached to?
I used to let mine hang out the bottom... when I had the radio reflashed a couple of weeks ago and they brought the bike from the back, the pigtail had been routed up and out the top of the side panel with the end up by the 4-point docking hardware - this seemed like pure genius as it's now not getting beaten and abused by the road gremlins...
Mine comes out the left side above the frame, under the seat.I attach it to the left saddlebag guard when riding.Wrap the rubber loop of the cover for the pigtail around the guard when riding.I can show You a picture if You don't folllow.
Not sure, but I believe the side covers are the same on Rushmore's and 2017 M8s. My 2017 Ultra Limited left side cover has a small slot in the bottom. I let my pigtail hang out about 2" thru that slot. That keeps it pretty much out of sight and still well above the left pipe so it does not get burned. I use it all the time. The tender goes on the minute my bike hits the garage.
Mine comes out from the bottom of the side cover in between primary and passenger floorboard. I have it routed above the pin on the side cover so that it won't touch the exhaust.
One day I will probably just put a permanent jack at the bottom of the side cover to plug into. Only time I use it is if I am leaving the country for more than 3 weeks.
