The bike is basically stock (bought used with 1262 miles - assuming stock). I added Fuelmoto headpipe (Jackpot Super Duals & Crossover), and ThunderMax, stock mufflers. Terrible starting issues since ThunderMax install, but usually only first start of the day. After fighting to get it started it runs pretty well. Have done all the suggested things - new battery, clean / dielectric grease connectors (throttle body), adjust both initial and cranking fuel, even loaded modified map from ThunderMax support. Now have experienced limp mode since install of modified map.
The question is, has anyone successfully ran this setup or similar with ThunderMax? Do I have a faulty module or have they just not been able to get it right with the Rushmore's?
I had a Thundermax installed at Myrtle Beach last year, nothing but great performance and zero issues with starting. Very happy with it. Cycle Solutions did the install and dyno.
Personally you couldn't give me one of the darn things, too may issues I've seen over the years with the blundermax. You need a good PV and a good tune, you want be sorry. Put the max on ebay and get out while you can !!!!!
I ran a ThunderMax on my '10 LTD, no issues. I went this direction because I also like the built in autotune. (wide band sensors) I shipped it back to Thunder Heart today for evaluation. Hopefully they determine I got a lemon and replace it. Including the cost of the new battery (which I don't think I needed) I'm in close to a grand. Hard pill to swallow.

I feel for ya man, I've got a friend who's TM did sort of the same, it was one excuse after the other and it never would run right, it was sent back to them and of course nothing was wrong. Finally they pulled it off and put the stock ecm back and tuned it with a PowerVision and all was well and still is. I think he may have gotten 3 to 400 out of the TM but he lost a lot also.
I don't have any problems with my Thundermax on cold starts and it runs like a raped ape. (judging from my butt dyno) Also runs cooler, but I also had the head pipe changed out at the same time I put the Thundermax on.
Been running a TMax on my softail for years. Probably 80k miles. During that time had 2 failures, both IAC driver. Both failures occurred immediately after washing the bike. Stopped starting it after washing it and haven't had a problem since.
IAC driver failure will cause the bike to idle very poorly, if at all. Get the RPMs up and it runs fine. Both failures were covered under TMax warranty.
