Default Looking at cams

I am throwing the idea around about getting cams for my 16 SG. have everything I need for stage 1, I just haven't put everything on yet. While I got the bike on the lift, I taking off my remaining chrome covers and getting them powder coated. This includes the cam cover and the top and bottom rocker boxes. I am looking at the screaming eagle 255 cams. I will also be putting on the HD air cleaner and the Vance and Hines power duals. I have the HD tuner that is no longer available through Harley thanks to the EPA... I will be doing the work myself so I am not worried about labor. I am looking at $715 for the cams, solid pushrods, black push rod covers and black tappet covers.

I am not looking to make her a power horse. I am not wanting to bore over, or get a 110 or 120 motor. I just want a little extra out of stock motor and be able to enjoy riding. I ride a mix of back roads and highway. I don't feel the need to go mach 5 with my beard on fire. I enjoy the ride.

My question is... Is it worth it? What kind of power gains should I expect from all this and is it worth the money to get the cams and kit? Thanks, all. I appreciate your time reading and responding to this.

Look at the Cycle Rama 570-2 cams. I just installed them and wow what a difference.
Fuel Moto has them if you want to see the specs. They really turned mine into a stump puller, fast acceleration and work off idle up. Idle is about the same as the stock cams.
BTW the 255's wont do much for you.

I agree with Larry. If you're going to do cams, shouldn't you do the best cams you can? These are the best cams for a stage 2 only, that you can buy. IMHO

I have 255's in both my big twins. I've been very happy with them and they make a very noticeable difference.

They are not the same cam as the HO103 motor came stock with. The timing and duration is pretty similar, but they have much more lift.

There's plenty other cams that make more power, but the 255's are no slouch and can be had very inexpensively as guys swap them from their CVOs, where they came stock.

I think your performance goals mirror my own when selecting cams, and I couldn't be happier with the 255's.

If its. A rushmore 103 the 255's aren't worth it. Better options out there. Look at fuel motos site as well as a few others. Tts makes a good cam for the 103 so does woods.

If you go through Fuel Moto, you get everything for $699 delivered, and unlimited support from these guys. That alone is worth it's weight in gold. Oh, and don't do solid pushrods. Do the adjustable, with the woods lifters and torrington bearings . Your life will be so much better, and your bike will be much more reliable. If you want to keep costs down by another hundred or so, you could also go with Andrews 48's. These won my cam poll by a huge margin. They won't get the performance bump of the CR 570-2's or the Woods 222's, but they will be better than the 255's.

Here's what you can expect with your combo, if you decide on the woods... And Cyclerama's are even better. They come on earlier and carry out longer, with higher numbers

The SE 255 cams won't get you much of a bump compared to what you have now..

I want to get good quality parts. I know that there is no such thing as good AND cheap... So I will put money into quality. So yes, I want to get the best cams that I can. I am only looking at going as high as a stage 2 upgrade. I will look into them. Thank you!
