Outer primary gasket every 5k?

Default Outer primary gasket every 5k?
My RK drops one and only one drop of oil over night. I mentioned it when I stopped to get new O rings for my 10K service and the parts guy says their shop changes the outer primary gasket every 5K.

Anyone else ever heard of this? I was planning on changing the gasket anyway but I've never heard of every 5K.

I change the gasket and 3 o-rings every 5K miles when I change all 3 oils, gasket kit around $7 IIRC, cheap insurance and peace of mind.

I’m still using the same one since 1000mile service,and I’m over 40 k, there’s no pressure against it and I always inspect it and it still looks brand new..and I always get several 3 hole changes on the o rings also....

The primary lube has a 10K mile service interval. I have reused the gasket without having any leakage,but the last few fluid changes I’ve replaced it. I am assuming you are referring to the derby cover gasket and not the gasket between the inner and out primary covers.

The Maintenance Schedule says primary oil every 10K, so why would they change the gasket every 5K? It makes no sense.

Over-torquing the screws will cause this. Are you using a torque wrench? I replace these gaskets every other time I have it off for service.

I think Y’all are referring to the derby cover gasket. I’m talking about the outer primary cover gasket.....

Did you take a straight edge and make sure the gasket surface isnt warped?
