Default WHIM - again

I've read through all the threads on the WHIM and still can't get mine to function as I think it should. I apologize for being so stupid. Details: WHIM installed on 2017 FLHTK and flashed by the dealer. Both rider and passenger headsets successfully paired to WHIM. Rider and passenger are both HD branded Sena 20S EVO's. The headsets work for helmet-to-helmet communications when we are on separate bikes. When the wife rides on the back with me I want the headsets to function just like the wired ones - where we can control all the functions through the bike hand controls. If someone has made this work (rider-to-passenger) would you mind taking a few minutes and provide the set-up information for the headsets please. I've been through the YouTube videos, searched all the forums, been to my favorite dealership, asked Sena customer service, and asked Harley customer service. I've read all the negative comments on the other threads. Please don't respond unless you've made this set up work. My only real solution may be to take the WHIM off and put it on eBay.

Go to setup on the boom system and see if the box is checked for “headset volume controlled by....”

So both headsets are successfully paired to the WHIM and you can access them via the Boom and you can get into "configure rider and passenger headsets" through the Boom too? Did you set up the headsets for VOX? I don't think that the PTT switch will open your mic for intercom communications; at least that's what I've heard. I'll try it out on mine this weekend (we have two Sena 30K's). We don't use the intercom through the bike; we have both sets paired via BT (as if she was on her own bike) since my wife likes her own music and pairs to her phone for that.

The "controls headset volume" box is checked. I can control the volume of each function through the bike controls.

Both headsets are paired to the WHIM. I can access the configurations through the Boom system. I have set them up for VOX which seems to be the source of some of the problems. I would be OK using the helmet-to-helmet BTcommunications while on the same bike but turning the mic sensitivity up or down has no impact. The passenger mic is open all the time. I've tried different helmet clamps for the headset and even swapped headsets. None of that makes any difference. The passenger headset is open at all times which mutes the music, etc from the Boom..

So what functions aren't working?

The VOX function: if turned on - the passenger mic is open all the time regardless of the sensitivity setting. With the VOX turned off - the intercom function works only by using the PTT button which is unacceptable.

Newbie whim question, if you and your wife listen to different music and she doesn’t need or want to listen to the bt directions, would it be easier to just connect your headset to the bt only and then connect headset to headset

check out the intercom section. I seem to recall I had a similar issue and turned out I had something in the intercom I need to check.
