Default Monkey Bar Install Help

Installing a set of 10” Monkey Bars. Throttle side grip in with housing and brake clamp has everything tight against where the bar diameter increases. On the clutch side, grip won’t go on any further but when hosing and clutch clamp installed I have 1/2” before diameter increase. I’m guessing the grip has to go on further, any tips to help it along?

I don't know if some bar manufacturers still require you to do this or not, but I know when I installed my Wild 1 Chubby 10" bars on my '14 Limited, I had to cut off 1/2" on the clutch side.

Edit - Maybe it was 3/8".

HD heated grips do work with our bars. You will be required to trim 3/8" off the left tip of the bar end. This is due to the fact that the heat controller takes up room in the depth of the grip which doesn't allow the clutch perch to fully seat against the CHUBBY area of the bar. Same with some shorter grips.

Double check for any burrs or adhesive on the grip area of the bars and inside the grip itself. If there's nothing physically holding them up a little shot of WD40 spread around should help.

I remember on my wild ones (reaperz I believe) the instructions said that for some grips you need to trim 1/4 or 1/2" off the end of the clutch side to get some grips to seat. Taped it off with painters tape and hacksaw went through it like butter, was off in seconds.

I did 12" Yaffee's not too long ago, didn't have to cut anything. Try one piece at a time, I'm betting there is something in your grip preventing it from going all the way in.

Thanks everyone! No cutting just patience and elbow grease pushing it the rest of the way!
